Playlist: Leaps

New format. Took the dash away from the filename to better reflect the recent renaming of the entire music library which previously was a hindrance to making new playlists. I like making playlists. I still do. When I think about the music in my head, it means less space for the heavy confetti of ill thoughts. For as long as the music lasts, you umbrella through it. So hang on and hey-hey.

Playlist: Oo

Sometimes you finish a playlist and try to add more tracks in, which makes you take songs out for a better feel and then you realize it messes up the transitions in the first half of the playlist so you go back to the original finished line-up and see it's dandy. So there. Can't change. It's fine the way it is, darn it.

These playlists sit sans cover in an mp3 player, hence the "playlist" designation instead of "compilation album". It will happen. You can't put it together in one sitting. So you'll check another day. Add a song. Take a song out. Then another day. Then a re-order. Then you put a song back in. It can take days. All for one playlist.

Playlist: Peddle Peddle

How one tune relates to the song before and after it is taken into consideration, as well as the overall set. Why? Change a song on the playlist and the scene will change. Just one song can make a playlist feel unsettled. That's what playlist is: a collection of scenes or moods. All for one big picture. When you put songs together you want that sense of cohesion to feel just right (though admittedly, as subjective as playlist making may be). What is finally intended is left right there for all to hear as one set.

This one took a while to mesh.

Oh well, on with the jams . . .

01. End of Small Sanctuary - Akira Yamaoka

Playlist: Marwood

Here's another reason for these playlist hops. When listening to a run-through of an album there are times when an awareness is built that what you're hearing is all too much the same. A band is defined by what they create. They'll quicken the tempo or break it down but it all is a variation of the sound that defines them. Sometimes my attention just can't hold on for the album haul. Instead of single songs, all I can hear is one symphonic flush.

So out with a playlist.

Cherry pick those songs out of its intended context and spin 'em to the order that tap dances in my head. No longer lost in the flush of one sound, now each tune takes its own stage, individually highlighted. It's easier to appreciate something when you place it where you want to be.

Playlist: Clifton Taxi

Hello again. Having put up the new header made my feet kick. A kick brought back by the creative spirit. Since then I've plunked a few chords on the guitar, hints of perhaps a new song accompanied of course by vocal melody gibberish. No lyrics, you see. Not at infancy. Just a lot of "hoobah-rah-dee-dahs" and "suh-vuh-shuh-rumdums," etc., strum-strum, etc. With a want to keep the mind chattering, it would not be long before a new playlist would be served up. Ordering these songs into a personally considered sense of order is a good time indeed. Since I'm posting these playlists, I thought it would be nice to put a face to these song sets aside from the playlist name, you know? So back into photoshop and out with a cover. There ya go. Done. Kick.

Here's the new joint. It's a playlist with more upbeat bites, unlike the relative dysphoria of the previous playlist, the dead december. To think that life can be tracked by what one listens to is a phenomenon.

And a beautiful one, at that.

I present to you:

01. Moontime - Dudley Moore
02. LUCOUTU - SELA.
03. Organism - Tommy Guerrero
04. Stinkfist - Tool
05. Trying - AD
06. Exotic Animal Paradise - Asobi Seksu

10. Lorca And The Orange Tree - The Mummers
11. Save My Soul - Wimple Winch
12. Pickpocket - At the Drive-In

Playlist: the dead december

I haven't had much to say recently. Lost. Turned off. Gone. It would be a fine thing indeed to have a bustle and buzz to speak of, to type up some newfound wow and remark in sweet glee, "Yeah, I thought this."

But no.

One romp that keeps my mind up is I enjoy making playlists. With a set of songs is a reflection of a mood or a time that occupied me so much so that my brain whispered in clicks, "Rink 'em together yeah!" So in place of the silence that has haunted this blog, I offer you the latest set knitted together during this Winter Down. Seeing as how it's Santa Claus season, the track listing shall remain hush-hush. Oooh what can it be?

Yup, still a mystery song list. Santa is vacationing now, but this present remains wrapped.
