What Everest Eyes

Took a shower
Washed my head
With winter's water
Washed my head

And oh!
How that oh so cold water
raced down
Everest down
like the frostbitten who fought
now the fight of
what might be
frostbite around my eyes

And I feel
my eyeballs
are freezing

But these aching eyes
know not the top of world
just the cold of everything else beneath it
